Explanation of the Book of Prayer and Its Times-03a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Abu al-Walid Hisham ibn 'Abd al-Malik narrated to us, saying: Bashir ibn al-Mufaddal narrated to us, saying: Ghalib al-Qattan narrated to me from Bakr ibn 'Abd Allah from Anas ibn Malik, who said:
We used to pray with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and one of us would place the end of his garment in the place of prostration due to the intense heat. كنا نصلي مع النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فيضع أحدنا طرف الثوب من شدة الحر في مكان السجود
.

The Shaykh : In this discussion and section, the scholars said: "If the barrier is from the limbs of prostration, then the prostration is not valid. If it is something with which a person covers his 'awrah in his prayer, then prostrating on it is disliked except out of need. If it is separate, then there is no harm in it", such as if a person places a handkerchief or the like, there is no harm in it as long as he does not do so out of arrogance in himself, for he may be committing a sin.
