The student's reading of the biography of al-Tahawi

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The student: In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy.
The biography of Imam al-Tahawi, the author of the al-Tahawi Creed.
He is Abu Ja'far Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Salama ibn 'Abd al-Malik al-Azdi al-Tahawi, the Imam, hadith scholar, jurist, and preserver.
He was born, may Allah have mercy on him, in the year 239.
He sought knowledge after reaching maturity in Egypt, and he received knowledge from his maternal uncle, Isma'il ibn Yahya al-Muzani, who was the most learned of the students of Imam al-Shafi'i. He observed that his uncle had adopted many choices from the school of Abu Hanifah, and he recorded these choices in a book he named: Mukhtasar al-Muzani. When al-Tahawi observed this, he turned to studying the books of Abu Hanifah and examining their methodology in terms of foundations and branches, until he followed their example and became one of their followers. However, he would depart from the school and contradict it when he found evidence contrary to its position, as appeared in his book Ma'ani al-Athar.
He sought knowledge from many scholars, and some of them reported that he had studied under three hundred sheikhs.
Among his virtues for which he was titled are: the Imam, the trustworthy, the steadfast, the intelligent, and the preserver of his religion. He was a jurist and a hadith scholar.
Among his most important works are: the al-Tahawi Creed, which is a creed following the methodology of the righteous Salaf; his book Ma'ani al-Athar; his book Mushkil al-Athar; his book Ahkam al-Quran; and al-Mukhtasar, among others.
He passed away in the year 310, so may Allah have mercy on him.
I have taken his biography from the introduction of al-Akhir's commentary on the al-Tahawi Creed.
