Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : He says, may Allah have mercy on him:
"We said to you, learn, but you said, 'We are the imams, so distinguish the eras'"
This means he called them to knowledge, but they were arrogant and said, "We are the scholars, we are the imams, far above the scholars."
"*** so distinguish the eras" He said, "From where ***" Ibn al-Qayyim.
"From where, and you are the scholars, so be ashamed ***"
This means, where are you in comparison to the scholars? How can you claim to be imams?
"So be ashamed *** Where are the stars from the lower dust"
They are close to each other, here.
The student: Far.

The Shaykh : Far from each other, okay.
"*** Where are the stars from the lower dust"
"You are the only ones who resemble the scholars *** You resemble the scholars in your beards"
This means you resemble the scholars in what? Only in the beard. A beard and the appearance of a scholar, but you are not scholars. This is undoubtedly a form of mockery of them. He says, may Allah have mercy on him:
"By Allah, there is no knowledge, no religion, no *** intellect, and no human honor"
All four of these are absent from them: knowledge, religion, intellect, and human honor.
