(The People of Innovation Abandoning Action Based on the Texts of the Book and the Sunnah While Claiming to Revere It) They removed him in meaning and appointed another in his place, *** like Abu al-Rabi', the caliph of the sultan, whom they mentioned

The Shaykh :"They removed him in meaning and appointed another in his place, *** like Abu al-Rabi', the caliph of the sultan"
They removed him in meaning, but they established him as an imam in name, and they appointed another to lead. For example, these people said: "The Qur'an is the most noble of things and the speech of Allah," if they say that it is the speech of Allah, but they do not follow it. So this is removing it in meaning, like Abu al-Rabi', the caliph of the sultan. Abu al-Rabi' appears to have been the caliph of a previous sultan who assumed the caliphate, but he assumed the caliphate in name only, while the administration was in the hands of another. So if he is called a caliph and a sultan, does he have authority? No, but he has something specific to him.
"They mentioned him from atop the minbars" "O Allah, support our sultan so-and-so, son of so-and-so; O Allah, support our caliph so-and-so, son of so-and-so," while in reality he is neither a sultan nor a caliph for them; the authority lies with another.
"And on the coinage, *** they inscribed his name on the face of the currency"
The caliphs in the past, and up to now, have written their names on the dinars and dirhams, writing their names to honor them. So this Abu al-Rabi' wrote his name on the dinars and dirhams, and he is invoked from atop the minbars, but he has no authority; the authority is with another. Did Ibn 'Isa speak about that? Hmm?
