The Shaykh : Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) says:
"Do you see that they have made tawhid (the oneness of Allah) obscure, when *** you have clarified it, O people of knowledge?"
Do you see that they, meaning the messengers (peace be upon them) and their followers, have made tawhid (the oneness of Allah) obscure, and you have clarified it?
"Do you see that they have displayed tashbih (likening Allah to creation), and it *** is for you like the worship of idols?"
They displayed tashbih (likening Allah to creation) by what? By affirming the attributes, because these people of ta'til (denial of the divine attributes), our brothers, say: everyone who affirms an attribute for Allah is one who likens Him to creation, and he is a worshiper of an idol, because it necessitates that Allah is a body like the idols. For this reason, the author said:
"And it *** is for you like the worship of idols"
Meaning: and the affirmation is for you like the worship of idols, because you say: whoever affirms an attribute is one who ascribes a body to Allah, i.e., making for Allah a body like the idol that is worshipped.
