(Explanation of Abu al-Hudhayl al-'Alaf's view that the people of Paradise remain in their bodies while their movements cease forever, and the refutation of them) And Abu al-Hudhayl says that everything...

The Shaykh : Al-'Alaf came
The student: Abu al-Hudhayl

The Shaykh : Yes, al-'Alaf is Abu al-Hudhayl. Al-'Alaf is Abu al-Hudhayl. He brought a strange statement, saying: The movements cease, the growth of the trees ceases, and the thing remains like stones. That is, the people of Paradise remain in their bodies, but there is no movement. Yes, the trees remain, but there are no fruits. Paradise remains, but those in it are stones. Even if a man had raised a morsel to his mouth, or a fruit, and then Allah decreed the cessation of action for them, he would remain with his fruit, his hand raised, until when?
The student: Forever

The Shaykh : Until there is no end. If he was with his wife, he would remain with her forever, because they hold that, because he holds that movements cease and entities remain. Why? The author explained, out of fear of infinite regress.
"They said: And were it not for that, our Lord would not be established for us, *** because of the infinite regress of entities"
They say: If we affirmed the infinite regress, the infinite regress of entities, there would be no difference between the Lord and the created, because the created remains and the Lord remains forever. So if we affirmed the infinite regress, it would follow that the Creator and the created are one thing.
