The Shaykh :"And by the right of Your mercy which encompassed all creation***" Yes, yes, accepted.
"And by the right of Your grace which You bestowed*** without any recompense or price"
The right of grace is to give thanks, and thanks is righteous action. It is permissible for a person to seek nearness to Allah through righteous actions. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) related to us the story of three men who fell into a calamity and sought nearness to Allah through their righteous deeds. They were the ones upon whom a cave collapsed. One of them sought nearness to Allah through complete and great dutifulness to his parents, the second through complete chastity, and the third through complete fulfillment of his trusts. They sought nearness to Allah until Allah moved the rock away from them and they came out. So seeking nearness to Allah through righteous action is permissible.
