Third: That Allah the Exalted is named with what He has not named Himself with, such as the Christians naming Him "the Father," and the philosophers naming Him "the active cause."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :"That Allah the Exalted is named with what He has not named Himself with, such as the Christians naming Him the Father, and the philosophers naming Him the active cause".
This is also shirk (associating partners with Allah) to name Allah with something He has not named Himself with, especially if it is false, like the Christians who name Him what? The Father. This is shirk because it is obligatory to restrict the names of Allah to what the texts have brought. Introducing something that is not among them is considered shirk in the names. The philosophers say: the active cause. The active cause, in reality, is a matter that has no existence in the external world; it is merely posited by the mind. That is, the mind posits that there is a general thing that encompassed creation and brought creation into existence, but it has no existence in the external world. It is well known that what the mind posits, if it does not exist in the external world, is an imagination with no reality. This is the aspect of it being shirk.
"Because the names of Allah the Exalted are based on divine revelation, so naming Allah the Exalted with what He has not named Himself with is a deviation from what is obligatory in them. Moreover, these names by which they named Him are themselves invalid, and Allah is free from them".
The aspect of the falsity in the speech of the Christians is that if they name Him the Father, that necessitates that He be a parent, while He, Glorified and Exalted is He, has not begotten nor been begotten. The philosophers named Him an active cause. This active cause, as I told you, has no existence except in the mind, not in the external world. For example, humanity: all descendants of Adam share in what? In humanity. This is a universal general concept. Is there a thing called "humanity"? Answer, everyone. No, there is no such thing. There is a human being, but there is no "humanity" as a general entity. So the active cause has no existence in reality because it is merely an imagination that humans imagined. They said that these existing things must have a creator, and this creator is not the Lord of the worlds, but rather a cause they call an active cause, meaning that its effect must necessarily occur.
