Explanation of the Book of Friday and the Two Festivals-01b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Abu al-Yaman narrated to us, Shu'ayb informed us from al-Zuhri, who said: Tawus said:
I said to Ibn 'Abbas: "They mentioned that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Take a bath on Friday and wash your heads, even if you are not in a state of major ritual impurity, and use some perfume.'" Ibn 'Abbas said: "As for the bath, yes; but as for the perfume, I do not know."
.

The Shaykh : This indicates that the bath is more well-known than the perfume among the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them). It has been previously mentioned that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The Friday bath is obligatory for every pubescent person, and that he should use the miswak, and that he should use some of his family's perfume. غسل الجمعة واجب على كل محتلم، وأن يتسوك، وأن يمس من طيب أهله
, and we mentioned that one of the narrators said: "As for the bath, I testify that it is obligatory; but as for the rest, I do not know."
By this, we know that there is no contradiction from the one who claimed that pairing the perfume with the bath indicates that the bath is not obligatory, and that this is not an excuse, because one may pair things in a command regarding one matter while they differ in other matters. We mentioned in this regard the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And [He created] the horses, mules and donkeys for you to ride and [as] adornment والخيل والبغال والحمير لتركبوها وزينة
[An-Nahl 16:8]
, even though horses are lawful.
