Benefits of the Hadith (The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ascended the pulpit . . .)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And among the benefits of this hadith is: the eagerness of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to convey the Shari'ah, to the extent that he went out in this state while he was ill, may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him.
And among them is: the recommendation of ascending the pulpit during the sermon, because that is more effective in informing people from one aspect, and more intense in arousing attention from another aspect, because the one who preaches while being seen takes more from the people than the one who is not seen.
And among them is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was afflicted with fever, headache, and other symptoms of illness like other people, indeed, he (may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him) would be seized by illness as two men among us would be, meaning more severely. And the wisdom of this, and Allah knows best, is in order for him to attain the highest rank in patience, because the more difficult a thing is and it is met with patience, the more difficult the patience becomes. So Allah (Mighty and Majestic) would afflict Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), in order for him to ascend to the degree of the patient, so that he would be patient (peace and blessings be upon him) with all types of patience: patience in obedience, patience against disobedience, and patience with divine decrees. And in it is also: that it is recommended in the sermon that a person should begin with praising Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and it is His right that He be praised (Glorified and Exalted is He), He is the One who facilitates for the servant reaching the position of preaching, then He is the One who helps the servant in performing the preaching, then He is the One who helps the servant in the people listening to him and accepting what he says. All these are blessings for which He (Blessed and Exalted is He) deserves praise.
And in it is also: that he calls out to the people, saying: "O people," and this is the most common in his sermons (peace and blessings be upon him) to say "O people," and sometimes he would say: "O servants of Allah," but the most common is "O people."
And among the benefits is: that it is recommended for the speaker to gather the people to him, meaning if they are scattered, he says "come closer, gather," because he said "O people, come to me," so they returned to him. Indeed, gathering to a person and being close to him has a great benefit, which is that if they are near him, they understand more from him. For this reason, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said in prayer:
Let those of you who are sedate and prudent be near me ليليني منكم أولوا الأحلام والنهى
Mishkat al-Masabih 1088
And it is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he intended to preach to the people one day, so he sent one of the Companions and said, "Make the people quiet," meaning say to them "be quiet." So there is another benefit in this besides what was mentioned in this hadith, which is that it is recommended for whoever wants to speak to gather the people to him and to make them quiet, saying "be quiet, listen." And this is not considered calling for oneself, or that a person calls for himself so that the people gather to him and listen to him. No, the intention is the public benefit.
And among the benefits of this hadith is: that he (peace and blessings be upon him) encouraged kindness to the Ansar, because they are worthy of it. They are the ones who took up residence in the land and faith before the Muhajirun, and they are the ones who pledged allegiance to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) to protect him from what they protect their women and children from. So they are worthy of being advised to be treated well. Then, this may be an indication that the one who succeeds in the caliphate is from the Muhajirun. For this reason, he advised him to treat the Ansar well, and this is what happened, for the one who took over the caliphate after the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) were all from Quraysh.
And in it is also: that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
anybody who becomes a ruler of the followers of Muhammad and has the power to harm or benefit من ولي شيئا من أمة محمد فاستطاع أن يضر فيه أحدا أو ينفع
Sahih al-Bukhari 927
The ruler may benefit and harm; he may be empowered over some people and harm them, and Allah may place mercy in his heart for some people and benefit them. For this reason, he said
and is able to benefit or harm فاستطاع أن ينفع أو يضر
.
And among the benefits of this hadith is: that he (peace and blessings be upon him) encouraged accepting from the good-doers of the Ansar and overlooking the wrongdoers among them. And this is a specific advice. Otherwise, it is known that Allah the Exalted encouraged forgiveness and encouraged it, and He said:
whoever pardons and makes reconciliation - his reward is [due] from Allah من عفا وأصلح فأجره على الله
[Ash-Shuraa 42:40]
And He said:
And to forego it is nearer to righteousness وأن تعفوا أقرب للتقوى
[Al-Baqarah 2:237]
and other texts indicating forgiveness of the wrongdoer. But this is restricted to when there is reform in the forgiveness. As for when there is no reform in it, do not forgive, because reform takes precedence over specific personal benefit. Yes, is it taken from this that if a headache pains you, you should bind it? Yes, and it is so, and it is tested that if a person's head pains him, he should bind it, for this is among the causes of his healing by the permission of Allah, or at least it eases his pain. And if you can treat yourself with something that does not enter your body, that is better, as much as possible, because what enters the body may have complications, especially in chemical medicines. As for what is external, the complications in it, if they occur, may be few. Yes.
