The reciter: Chapter:
Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Asma' narrated, Juwayriyyah narrated, from Nafi', from Ibn 'Umar, who said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to us when he returned from the Battle of the Confederates:
None of you Muslims) should offer the `Asr prayer but at Banu Quraiza's place." The `Asr prayer became due for some of them on the way. Some of those said, "We will not offer it till we reach it, the place of Banu Quraiza," while some others said, "No, we will pray at this spot, for the Prophet (ﷺ) did not mean that for us." Later on It was mentioned to the Prophet (ﷺ) and he did not berate any of the two groups. لا يصلين أحد العصر إلا في بني قريظة، فأدرك بعضهم العصر في الطريق، فقال: بعضهم لا نصلي حتى نأتيها، وقال بعضهم: بل نصلي، لم يرد منا ذلك، فذكر للنبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فلم يعنف واحداً منهم
Sahih al-Bukhari 4119
.

The Shaykh : It is known that the Battle of the Confederates took place in Shawwal of the fifth year of the Hijrah, because a coalition from Quraysh and others gathered against the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), numbering up to 10,000 fighters, and they besieged the city. The story is well known, and Allah sent down a wind upon them that scattered them.
In this expedition, there were many signs for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), among which is that the Messenger (may Allah's prayer and peace be upon him) asked his companions who would go to them, meaning to the Confederates, as the wind was severe and cold, to go to them to ask, meaning to see what their condition was. But no one stood up, for everyone was afraid because the wind was severe and cold and the enemy was numerous. However, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) specifically named Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman and said:
Rise, O Hudhayfah قم يا حذيفة
He said: "So there was no choice but to stand up, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered me. Initially, standing up was a collective obligation, but now it became an individual obligation, so he stood up. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered him to go to the people and look into their affairs, and forbade him from shooting a single arrow. He went to them with this severe wind, saying, 'I went until it was as if I were in an oven,' meaning that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) protected him from the cold of the weather and the wind until he reached them. He said, 'Abu Sufyan, who was the leader of the people at that time, was moving among them. The wind did not leave a pot for them without overturning it, nor a tent without toppling it, and he was moving among them, as is known. He said, 'It was very easy for me to shoot at him and kill him, but I remembered the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). So I sat with a group of them, and Abu Sufyan said, "Let each of you look at his companion." I was quick to act and said to my companion, "Who are you?" He said, "I am so-and-so," because he was his companion, lest he rush into a problem. So he learned the conditions of the people and that in any case they had been shaken and would leave. He returned to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was in the warmest state, and he found the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) praying. He said, "When I reached the Messenger, I felt the cold. Allahu Akbar! So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) placed his cloak over me. This is one of the signs of Allah."
There are many signs in this expedition; if there were nothing else, the fact that Allah unleashed the eastern wind upon them, as the Prophet (may Allah's prayer and peace be upon him) said:
I have been helped by the east wind and the 'Ad were destroyed by the west wind. نصرت بالصبا وأهلكت عاد بالدبور
Sahih Muslim 900a
Then Allah unleashed the western wind upon the 'Ad, and He unleashed the eastern wind upon these people, until they left. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from the expedition, and among those who supported Quraysh in this were Banu Qurayzah, the last of the Jewish tribes, who betrayed and treacherously broke their treaty. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned to his house and placed his cloak, Jibril came to him and said, "Go out to these people," meaning Banu Qurayzah. So he encouraged his companions and said:
None should offer the 'Asr prayer but at Bani Quraiza. لا يصلين أحد العصر إلا في بني قريظة
Sahih al-Bukhari 946
He intended by this to hasten them and urge them on. So they went out, and the 'Asr prayer overtook them. Some of them prayed and said, "The Messenger did not intend for us not to pray except there; rather, he intended for us to hasten and be urged on." And others said, "We do not know; the Messenger said, 'Do not pray except there,' so perhaps revelation came to him or for one of the reasons." The important thing is that each of them interpreted the matter, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not rebuke any of them. And this was the constant practice of the Messenger (may Allah's prayer and peace be upon him): that when a person does something based on interpretation, he is not rebuked, even if he contradicted the ruling, because the one who interprets is excused. If a judge rules and exercises independent legal reasoning and is correct, he has two rewards; and if he exercises independent legal reasoning and is wrong, he has one reward. The one who interprets is excused. For this reason, one of the conditions for declaring someone a disbeliever for something that constitutes disbelief is that the doer or the speaker is what? Not interpreting. If he interprets, there is no disbelief. And this is a rule that we should know: that the one who interprets, if his interpretation is permissible, is not held accountable for it. And look at the two men whom the Messenger (may Allah's prayer and peace be upon him) sent on a need, who did not find water, so they performed dry ablution and prayed, then they found water before the time ended. One of them performed the ablution and repeated the prayer, and the other did not perform the ablution and did not repeat the prayer. So he said to the one who performed the ablution and repeated the prayer:
You have two rewards لك الأجر مرتين
Because he prayed two prayers believing that both were obligatory, so he had the reward twice based on his interpretation. And he said to the second one:
You hit the Sunnah أصبت السنة
So he pleased each of them, may Allah's prayer and peace be upon him. And we know with certainty that after knowing the Sunnah, if a person prayed once after finding water, he would not have a reward because he contradicted the Sunnah.
So the important thing is that this is a rule that we should follow, not regarding the rights of Allah, not regarding the rights of the created, even if the created wrongs us with a wrong that he thinks is a favor, do not rebuke him because he is doing a favor. Yes, and a person is human and may do something that is not appropriate, but he thinks it is a favor, so do not rebuke him. This is the guidance of the Prophet (may Allah's prayer and peace be upon him). If we followed this with people in the rights of Allah, and with people in their dealings with people, we would attain much good. But a person may be overcome by jealousy, haste, and self-defense, so he is unable to deal with this treatment.
