The reciter: Isma'il ibn Ibrahim ibn Nasr narrated to me, Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ibn Jurayj narrated to us, Ata' informed me from Jabir ibn Abdullah, who said: I heard him say:
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood on the day of al-Fitr and prayed. He began with the prayer, then delivered the sermon. When he finished, he descended and went to the women, admonishing them while leaning on the hand of Bilal, and Bilal had spread out his garment into which the women were throwing their charity. I asked Ata': Is it the zakat of the day of al-Fitr? He said: No, but it is charity that they give at that time, throwing their jewelry and giving. I asked: Do you consider قام النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يوم الفطر فصلى فبدأ بالصلاة ثم خطب فلما فرغ نزل فأتى النساء فذكرهن وهو يتوكأ على يد بلال وبلال باسط ثوبه يلقي فيه النساء الصدقة، قلت لعطاء: زكاة يوم الفطر؟ قال : لا، ولكن صدقة يتصدقن حينئذ، تلقي فتخها ويلقين، قلت: أترى
