Urging attention to the affairs of Muslims, and explaining the definition of worship

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : As for what I wish to complete this meeting with, I say: Many Muslims today are heedless of the affairs of their religion. Most of them strive for this world as if they were created for it. You find them occupied with the Hereafter by their buying and selling, their families, and their children, as if they were created for this, even though Allah the Exalted said in His Book:
(56) And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me. (57) I do not want from them any provision, nor do I want them to feed Me. وما خلقت الجن والإنس إلا ليعبدون ما أريد منهم من رزق وما أريد أن يطعمون
[Adh-Dhariyat 51:56-57]
. However, the worship of Allah is based on two things: sincerity to Allah Mighty and Majestic, and following the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
What is the opposite of sincerity? Shirk (associating partners with Allah). And the opposite of following is bid'ah (religious innovation). Therefore, Allah does not accept worship in which there is shirk, nor does He accept worship that is bid'ah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah the Exalted said:
I am the One, One Who does not stand in need of a partner. If anyone does anything in which he associates anyone else with Me, I shall abandon him with one whom he associates with Allah. أنا أغنى الشركاء عن الشرك، من عمل عملا أشرك فيه معي غيري تركته وشركه
Sahih Muslim 2985
. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
He who did any act for which there is no sanction from our behalf, that is to be rejected. من عمل عملا ليس عليه أمرنا فهو رد
Sahih Muslim 1718b
meaning: it is rejected. Let us give an example of some types of shirk.
