The Shaykh : Marfu', from Abu Hurayrah, marfu' to whom? To the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).
He said: Allah the Exalted said, meaning: the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) narrates it from his Lord, saying: Allah said:Sahih Muslim 2985 "Aghna" is a superlative noun, not a past tense verb, but it is a superlative noun, and for this reason it is added to "partners," meaning: if some of the partners are self-sufficient regarding their partnership with this man, then I am the most self-sufficient of partners regarding his partnership. And is it possible for a person to be self-sufficient regarding his partnership with another person? Yes, a person may be wealthy and have a share of one hundred parts from this place, and not care about this thing, leaving it, so here he becomes self-sufficient regarding his partnership in this orchard, for example. Allah (Mighty and Majestic) is the most self-sufficient of partners against shirk; He never accepts a deed in which there is a partner, but rather He accepts the deed that is pure for Him alone, just as He (Glorified and Exalted is He) is the Creator alone. How can the Creator be for you alone, and then you dispose of some of His right to another? Is this justice?
The student: No.
The Shaykh : For this reason, Allah (Mighty and Majestic) said regarding Luqman:[Luqman 31:13] It is true that this is the most eloquent injustice; He who created you and prepared you completely in all your interests, and provided you with what you need, and then you go and dispose of some of His right to another. There is no doubt that this is among the most unjust of injustices, and I seek refuge in Allah. For this reason, we say that Allah the Exalted does not accept a deed in which there is shirk, because just as He is the Creator alone, worship must be for Him alone.
Then he clarified the implication of this phrase, saying: "Deed" is an indefinite noun in the context of a condition, so it implies generality. Sahih Muslim 2985 Any deed that it may be: prayer, charity, fasting, Hajj, jihad, knowledge, whatever it may be from what one draws near to Allah with. If a person does this deed and associates with Allah another in it, then Allah leaves him and his shirk.
And his saying: What is meant by "his shirk"? Is the meaning "and his partner," or is the meaning "and his shirk," i.e., the deed in which he associated? The second meaning is intended: the deed in which he associated. Because one who is associated with Allah may not be left by Allah. If one of the people showed off to a righteous man in his worship, would Allah leave this righteous man because of the showing off of this man? No. And how many people have worshipped the prophets, and Allah the Exalted does not leave the prophets. So the meaning of "and his shirk" is "and what he associated in that deed."
It is derived from this hadith.
The student: The verse.
The Shaykh : The verse? The verse we have not finished with? Okay, we finished with it and explained in it that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) is in a state of humanity, and that he is a Messenger by revelation... upon Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and whoever hopes to meet Him, let him do this deed. Okay, is that it?
The student: ...
The Shaykh : No, it is not apparent... because I am afraid that this is... regarding sins. As for acts of obedience, hope in them means greed for the thing. Yes.
The questioner : ...
The Shaykh : "I left him" means I left this man who associated with Me, so I did not pay attention to him and I did not reward him for his deed. Yes, in the very deed in which he associated. But it may reach the level of disbelief and he is left in all deeds. It is derived from this hadith, first: the clarification of the self-sufficiency of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), due to His saying:Sahih Muslim 2985.
And it is also derived from it the clarification of the greatness of His right, and that it is not permissible for anyone to associate with Allah anyone in His right.
And it is derived from it the invalidity of the deed accompanied by showing off (riya'), due to His saying:.
And it is derived from it the prohibition of showing off (riya'), and the aspect of that is: the leaving of a person and his shirk and the non-acceptance of it, is it satisfaction or anger?
The student: Anger.
The Shaykh : Yes, it is closer to anger, and what necessitates anger is forbidden. So at that time, this hadith indicates the prohibition of showing off (riya'), and the invalidity of the deed accompanied by showing off (riya'), due to His saying:.
And it is derived from this hadith that the attributes of actions are not limited. Look now: Do we take from this description that Allah is called "the One who leaves"? No, but actions have no end. Allah is the Greatest.
We are in a discussion now... (may Allah be pleased with him), marfu', is this the beginning of our lesson today?
The student: Yes.
He said: Allah the Exalted said, meaning: the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) narrates it from his Lord, saying: Allah said:
I am the One, One Who does not stand in need of a partner
أنا أغنى الشركاء عن الشركThe student: No.
The Shaykh : For this reason, Allah (Mighty and Majestic) said regarding Luqman:
Indeed, association [with him] is great injustice."
إن الشرك لظلم عظيمThen he clarified the implication of this phrase, saying:
Whoever does a deed
من عمل عملاIf anyone does anything in which he associates anyone else with Me, I shall abandon him with one whom he associates with Allah.
من عمل عملا أشرك فيه معي غيري تركته وشركهAnd his saying:
I have abandoned it, and his shirk.
تركته وشركهIt is derived from this hadith.
