The reconciliation between them is that the intercessor intends only the Face of Allah the Exalted and Majestic. If he accepts a gift or a reward, then something of the desire for worldly life enters his intention. As for the one who does you a favor, reward him, that is in a matter other than this.

من صنع إليكم معروفًا فكافئوهWhoever intercedes for his brother and that one gives him a gift for that (intercession) which he accepts, he has engaged in one of the most terrible types of Riba (undeserving increase in something).
