The questioner : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
May Allah preserve you, O esteemed Shaykh: If a man is traveling and the time for the Maghrib prayer enters, and he wants to combine the 'Isha' prayer with it, and he was in a state of minor ritual impurity before that, then he performed the ablution while on the road. The time entered, and he doubted in the middle of the prayer that he had broken his purity after that. Then he did not pay attention to it and completed the prayer. After that, when he arrived in his city, he had some concern in his mind about this prayer, so he repeated it and shortened the Maghrib?
The Shaykh : Shortened? You do not shorten the Maghrib, or did you combine the 'Isha' with it?
The questioner : Yes, he combined it, shortening it.
The Shaykh : Yes, first, may Allah reward you. You must know that if a person doubts whether he has broken his purity or not, he should not pay attention to this matter and should distract himself from it. This is because this matter was reported to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) that a person feels something in his belly and thinks that something has come out of him, so he said:Sahih Muslim 361 and thank Allah for health. Distract yourself from it, and pray, and your prayers are valid, and do not doubt them. Yes, if you become certain after this that you have broken your purity and that you prayed without ablution, then perform the ablution and repeat the prayer. In this case, if you repeat it, you are repeating it in full as a precaution.
