Exegesis of Surat al-Nas and what is derived from its verses.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : As for the third surah, it is Surat al-Nas:
(1) Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind, (2) The Sovereign of mankind. (3) The God of mankind, (4) From the evil of the retreating whisperer - (5) Who whispers [evil] into the breasts of mankind - (6) From among the jinn and mankind."
[An-Nas 114:1-6]
:
Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind, قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ
[An-Nas 114:1]
: He is Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and He is the Lord of mankind and others, the Lord of mankind, the Lord of the angels, the Lord of the jinn, the Lord of the heavens, the Lord of the earth, the Lord of the sun, the Lord of the moon, the Lord of everything, but due to the context, He specified mankind.
King of mankind
means: The King who has the supreme authority over mankind and complete control is Allah (Mighty and Majestic).
Lord of mankind
: means: Their deity and the one they worship, so the one truly worshipped, whom the hearts revere, love, and magnify, is Allah (Mighty and Majestic).
(4) From the evil of the retreating whisperer - (5) Who whispers [evil] into the breasts of mankind - (6) From among the jinn and mankind." مِنْ شَرِّ الْوَسْوَاسِ الْخَنَّاسِ * الَّذِي يُوَسْوِسُ فِي صُدُورِ النَّاسِ * مِنَ الْجِنَّةِ وَالنَّاسِ
[An-Nas 114:4-6]
:
Al-Waswas: The scholars said that it is a verbal noun intended to mean the active participle, i.e., the one who whispers. Al-Waswasah is what is cast into the heart of ideas, illusions, and imaginations that have no reality.
Al-Khannas: The one who retreats, flees, turns away, and departs when Allah (Mighty and Majestic) is mentioned, and he is Shaytan. For this reason, when the mu'adhdhin calls the adhan, Shaytan turns away and flees, and he passes wind due to the intensity of the distress he feels. When the adhan ends, he returns—may Allah grant us well-being. For this reason, it came in the athar:
When the ghaylan appear, hasten with the adhan
.
Al-Ghaylan: These are the devils that appear to the traveler on his journey as if they were terrifying things or an enemy or the like. When a person says the takbir, they retreat.
So His saying (Mighty and Majestic):
al-Khanas الخناس
means: The one who retreats, i.e., who turns away, departs, flees, and is humbled before the mention of Allah (Mighty and Majestic).
And His saying:
Except whom your Lord has given mercy, and for that He created them. But the word of your Lord is to be fulfilled that, "I will surely fill Hell with jinn and men all together."
[Hud 11:119]
means: That the whispers may come from the jinn and may come from the children of Adam. As for the whispering of the jinn, it is apparent, because it flows through the children of Adam like blood. As for the whispering of the children of Adam, how many are those who come to a person and suggest evil to him, and make it attractive in his heart until this speech takes hold of his mind and he turns to it.
These three surahs: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), when he went to his bed, would blow into his hand and wipe with it his face and as much of his body as he could reach. He would sometimes recite them after the five daily prayers.
So a person should seek to follow the Sunnah in reciting them in their prescribed places, as it was reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family).
And with this we conclude the last part of the Qur'an, which is Juz' al-Naba'. However, we missed a surah, which is Surat al-Infitar.
When the sky breaks apart
[Al-Infitar 82:1]
We will complete it, if Allah wills, in the upcoming sessions, noting that there will be no session next week, but rather after that, if Allah wills.
And now to the questions, and we begin with the oath.
