Is it permissible for a person to receive his reward or salary through a bank?
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : O Shaykh (may Allah preserve him): Is it permissible for a person to receive his reward through a bank if he is a student, or his salary through a bank if he is an employee, or the like?
The Shaykh : Yes, there is nothing wrong with it. For example, if the responsible authority directs its employees or students to the bank, there is nothing wrong with that. However, one should not say to the bank: "Give me one hundred instead of one hundred and twenty in advance," as the brother mentioned in the issue of the monasteries. Rather, he should take his full share, and there is no blame on him for this.
And I say to you: Dealing with banks in matters that are not forbidden is permissible. For example, if there is an exhibition by a bank where it sells cars or other equipment or utensils or furniture, and you buy from them, there is no blame on you. This is because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) bought from the Jews, even though they consumed illicit wealth and took usury. In fact, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) died while his armor was pledged to whom? To a Jew. So know this principle: Dealing with a bank, or with anyone who deals in usury other than banks, in a permissible manner is permissible.
