What is the ruling on al-khadhf, i.e., the competition in throwing stones to see who can throw the stone the farthest, and carrying heavy weights?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Your Eminence, is every type of al-khadhf prohibited, or...?

The Shaykh : Is it?

The questioner : Is every type of al-khadhf prohibited?

The Shaykh : Every type.

The questioner : I mean, for example, if I compete with someone.

The Shaykh : Every what?

The questioner : Every type of al-khadhf.

The Shaykh : Throwing a pebble, I mean.

The questioner : I mean, for example, if I compete with someone to see who can reach the farthest point, is this included in the prohibition, or is it only...?

The Shaykh : Competing in throwing stones and carrying heavy weights is permissible; it is among the permissible things, but on the condition that there is no danger. However, if one throws a pebble and there are people sitting or standing around the target area, that is not allowed because it is dangerous, as the hand may slip and hit one of the people in front. But if the matter is safe from fear, there is no harm.
As for the al-khadhf that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibited, he informed that it does not wound the enemy, and they used small pebbles. For this reason, Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said in describing the pebbles for stoning the pillars: "What did he say? Like the pebbles of al-khadhf, small ones placed between the fingers, and a person throws them like this, and they bounce." The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
It does not wound the enemy, but it breaks the tooth and pops out the eye. إنها لا تنكأ عدو ولكنها تكسر السن وتفقأ العين
And as for what you mentioned, that is from the category of permissible competitions. Yes.
