What is the ruling on one who forgets the prostration for forgetfulness and remembers it after the prayer?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Noble Shaykh, if a person forgets the prostration for forgetfulness and remembers it after he has finished the prayer, what does he do?

The Shaykh : If a person forgets the prostration for forgetfulness until he has said the closing salam, he should perform the prostration. However, if a long interval has passed, it is dropped from him according to the majority of scholars. And Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "Whenever he remembers, he prostrates", even if he remains for an hour or two hours, he prostrates. But what appears to me is that he does not prostrate if the interval is long. As for if it is four or five minutes, he prostrates.

The questioner : And he says the salam?

The Shaykh : And he says the salam, yes.
