What are the conditions for permissible acting or drama?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Yes

The questioner : Your Eminence, what are the conditions you have set for acting or drama to be permissible?

The Shaykh : The first condition is that it must not contain lying. If it contains lying, it is not permissible.
The second condition is that one must not portray someone who has the right to respect, such as the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them), the leaders of the Muslims, and the like.
The third condition is that there must be a benefit in it, such as addressing social issues and the like. The fourth condition is that a man must not play the role of a woman, or a woman must not play the role of a man.
The fifth condition is that there must be no role of an animal, such as one of the actors playing the role of a sheep, a camel, a cow, a dog, or the like.
The sixth condition is that one must not play the role of a disbeliever, such as one of the actors playing the role of Abu Jahl, for example, or the role of Abu Lahab, or the like. This is because it may cause something to enter his heart, or something may enter his heart, or he may be mocked for it among people, and they may say, "O Abu Jahl, O Abu Lahab," and the like.
The important point is the general rule: the acting or drama must not include anything forbidden for any reason. It may be of the kind we have mentioned, and there may be other things that have escaped our attention. Yes.
