Is it permissible to lie in jokes for the sake of entertainment?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : It is not permissible to lie in jokes, as they say, because it is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), or at least with a good chain of narration, that he said:
Woe to him who lies in his talk to make the people laugh, Woe to him! Woe to him! ويل لمن يحدث فيكذب ليضحك به القوم، ويل له ثم ويل له
Bulugh al-Maram 16:80
This indicates that it is not permissible, because the warning of woe is among the evidence for the prohibition of the act.
No, only the guests are asked [to eat]; if there is something left over, there is no harm.
