Is every Muslim who dies in a fire a martyr?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : ... Are they martyrs?

The Shaykh : First, I say: every Muslim who dies in a fire is among the martyrs, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The one who dies in a fire is a martyr الحريق شهيد
But we do not say: So-and-so is a martyr, because he died by burning; we do not know. However, in general terms, we say: every one who dies in a fire is a martyr.
And if he was one of the firefighters, his reward is even greater, because this man who died while extinguishing the fire combined two things: the fire and the defense of his brothers. So in reality, he earned two rewards: the reward for defending his Muslim brothers, and the reward of martyrdom by fire. But note that we do not testify for a specific individual. For example, if a man is burned by fire before our eyes, we say: the fire is a martyr, but we do not say: this man is a martyr. Al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) titled a chapter in his Sahih on this issue and said:
Chapter: It is not said that so-and-so is a martyr باب: لا يقال فلان شهيد
Then he cited as evidence for this the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
There is no one who is wounded in the path of Allah, and Allah knows best who is wounded in His path ما من مكلوم يكلم في سبيل الله والله أعلم بمن يكلم في سبيله
He said: And Allah knows best. If Allah knows who is wounded in His cause, then we do not testify to what we do not know. But in general terms, we say: whoever is killed in the cause of Allah is a martyr. So one distinguishes between the general and the specific.
With the adhan for the midday prayer, this session ends, and we will meet in the next session, if Allah wills.
And all praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds. Glory be to You, O Allah, and praise be to You. I testify that there is no deity but You. I seek Your forgiveness and I repent to You.
