Is one who dies in a car accident a martyr?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : According to the scholars, the martyr is of two types: a true martyr, or a martyr by ruling.
-- Another questioner: Peace be upon you.The Shaykh: And upon you be peace and Allah's mercy and blessings, welcome.Another questioner : How are you? --
The Shaykh : A true martyr is the one who went out in the path of Allah and was killed on the battlefield. It is he upon whom the rulings of the martyr are applied: he is buried in his clothes and his blood, and it is permissible not to pray over him. I did not want to say "he is not prayed over" so that it would not be understood that praying over him is not permissible. I said "it is permissible not to pray over him" to indicate... the conditions of these severe battles do not allow for the funeral prayer over the martyr, let alone over the martyrs. So it is permissible to bury them as they are without praying over them. But if the situation of the battle has settled, meaning its burdens have been lifted, and some of the Muslims or the army commander finds time to perform the funeral prayer over the martyr, that is permissible. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did both things: he prayed and he did not pray. This is the true martyr.
The Shaykh : As for the one who is wounded in the battle and then taken, for example, as happened today, to a fixed or mobile hospital and dies there; his ruling is not the ruling of the martyr. He is washed and shrouded like the rest of the Muslim dead.
The Shaykh : Then attached to this second type are categories mentioned by the Messenger (peace be upon him) in some hadiths, among which are: drowning is a martyr, and the one who dies from a stomach ailment is a martyr, and the one who dies under a collapse is a martyr, and the one who dies from tuberculosis is a martyr, and the woman who dies due to childbirth is also a martyr. These types of martyrdom are martyrdom by ruling, not true martyrdom. That is: what was mentioned earlier regarding the martyr of the battle applies to these types of martyrs.
The Shaykh : Based on this, the brother's question earlier regarding the one who died due to a car; whether it was a collision, a crash, or whatever else, we cannot say that he is in the ruling of the one who died under a collapse. Because matters of the unseen are not practical jurisprudential rulings, and among the most difficult matters is introducing opinion, independent legal reasoning, and analogical reasoning into them. So the answer to such a question is: Allah knows best.
The Shaykh : Especially since the rulings related to one who died outside the battlefield require that he be prayed over, washed, and shrouded, and so on. As for the point of what is his status with Allah? Is he in the position of the one who died under a collapse or drowned, for example? We say: Allah knows best. Because Allah (Mighty and Majestic) is the One who will take charge of his recompense and reward, if he deserves this reward which is of the types of martyrdom mentioned by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
The Shaykh : As for the jurisprudential rulings, they follow this course for the one who died due to a car, just as they follow for the other martyrs who are martyrs by ruling and not true martyrs.
This is the answer to this question.
