The Book of Mosques and Places of Prayer-01a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Ali ibn Hajar al-Sa'di narrated to me, saying: Ali ibn Masihr informed us, saying: Al-A'mash narrated to us from Ibrahim ibn Yazid al-Taymi, who said:
I used to recite the Qur'an to my father in the saddle. Whenever I recited a prostration verse, he would prostrate. I said to him, "O my father, do you prostrate in the road?" He said, "I heard Abu Dharr say: I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about the first mosque established on earth. He said: The Sacred Mosque. I said: Then which one? He said: Al-Aqsa Mosque. I said: How much time is between them? He said: Forty years. Then the earth is a mosque for you, so wherever the prayer catches you, pray."
.

The Shaykh : Allah is the Greatest! This is good evidence. So the original ruling for the earth is that prayer in it is permissible and valid. If someone says: "Prayer is not valid in this land," we say: "Bring the evidence," because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The earth is a mosque for you, so wherever you are at the time of prayer, pray there. ثم الأرض لك مسجد فحيث أدرَكَتكَ الصلاة فصل
Sahih Muslim 520b

And this is undoubtedly good evidence. Accordingly, prayer in the road is permissible. But is it like prayer in the mosque or in the house? The answer is no, because the road is a place where people pass through, so they may disturb your prayer and confuse the matter, saying: "Do not pray in the road." But if one prays, there is no harm.
