Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Ubayd Allah ibn Ma'dh narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to us, saying: Shu'bah narrated to us from Sayyar ibn al-Bijami, saying: I heard Abu Buraydah say:
the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) did not mind some delay in the 'Isha' prayer even up to midnight and he did not like sleeping before (observing it) and talking after it. كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم لا يبالي بعض تأخير صلاة العشاء إلى نصف الليل وكان لا يحب النوم قبلها ولا الحديث بعدها
Sahih Muslim 647b
Shu'bah said: Then I met him another time, and he said: Or
A third of the night. ثلث الليل
.

The Shaykh : And the two wordings are combined by understanding that his specifying the middle of the night means the end of the time, and the third of the night means the actual performance. Yes.
