Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: And 'Ubayd Allah ibn Ma'adh narrated to me, saying, yes?

The Shaykh : Yes, yes.
The reader: Shall I repeat it, or not?

The Shaykh : ... It is fine.
The reader: ... .

The Shaykh : We were commanded to do it.
The reader: Yes,
the night on which the Messenger of Allah [may peace be upon him] commanded us to observe the prayer هي الليلة التي أمرنا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلّم
Sahih Muslim 762b
He said: And a companion of mine narrated it to me from him.
And 'Ubayd Allah ibn Ma'adh narrated to me, saying: Our father narrated to us, saying: Shu'bah narrated to us with this chain of narration, similar to it, but he did not mention that Shu'bah was uncertain, nor what came after that.

The Shaykh : This hadith is a hadith of Abu Hurayrah, and it indicates that the twenty-seventh night is the most likely of the nights, but it is not specified as such by the evidence of the other hadiths. The Shaykh : ... matters.
The student: Six.

The Shaykh : ... six: among them is the time. Did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ever encourage people to perform 'Umrah on the twenty-seventh night?
The student: No.

The Shaykh : Never, he did not do that, and he himself did not do it. But this is something the people have innovated. For this reason, you find that on the twenty-seventh night, people gather in great numbers in Makkah, to the extent that you might say it is like the season of Hajj. Some people come in the state of ihram for 'Umrah, and when they see the crowd, they leave and return to their country. Yes, and this is also ignorance. And it is obligatory for such a person to remain until the crowd thins, and then complete the 'Umrah.
