Is it obligatory for a woman to sell some of her jewelry to perform Hajj?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Shaykh, may Allah bless you, is it obligatory for a woman to sell some of her jewelry to pay for the expenses of Hajj for herself and her mahram?

The Shaykh : No. He says: Is it obligatory for a woman to sell some of her jewelry to perform Hajj? We say: It is not obligatory, except for the excess that is not customary for her to adorn herself with. It is like a student of knowledge who has books he needs and other books that are either duplicates or not needed. Yes, Salim.

The questioner : ...

The Shaykh : It is obligatory for him to perform Hajj himself, because this is the problem of tawaf. Praise be to Allah, now there are vehicles in which a person rides and is carried. If he cannot do it on the lower level, he does it on the upper level, do you understand? The same is said regarding sa'y and ramy al-jamarat; he appoints someone to do it, and this is better than him appointing someone for the entire rites. As for appointing someone for voluntary acts, this is a matter of doubt for me personally, and a matter of prohibition in one of the two narrations from Ahmad (may Allah have mercy on him). He says: Voluntary acts do not involve appointment, because appointment was established only for the obligatory act. As for the voluntary act, whoever is able should perform Hajj, and whoever is not able should not appoint someone. Do you understand? Therefore, we see that a person who wants to appoint someone for a voluntary act should not do so, but rather seek out someone from the people who has not performed the obligatory Hajj and help him with it.
And whoever assists a warrior in jihad has participated in jihad. ومن أعان غازياً فقد غزى
Yes.
