Explanation of the Book of Hajj-05a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Ibrahim ibn al-Mundhir narrated to us, saying: Mu'ayn narrated to me, saying: Malik narrated to me from Nafi' from Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said:
He would also enter Makkah through the Higher Pass and would leave it through the Lower Pass. كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يدخل من الثنية العليا ويخرج من الثنية السفلى
Riyad as-Salihin 719

The Shaykh : It appears that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to vary the route, just as he varied the route for the Eid prayer, to display the rites and so that the two paths would testify for him on the Day of Resurrection that he passed through them in obedience to Allah (Mighty and Majestic). The upper path is the path of the Hajun ridge, which is well-known and famous, as the poet said:
As if there had been no companion between the Hajun and al-Safa *** And no one who stayed up in Makkah
As for the lower path, it is the one via the Ajyad road. It is called Kady, Kuday, or Kudi. So open it and enter, and close it and exit. This is exactly like a person: if he wants to enter, he opens it—he said Kady—and when he leaves, he closes the door, so he closes it. I mean, if it is confusing to you, pay attention to this meaning. Yes.
