Is the prohibition of drinking while standing specific to water, or does it apply to any drink?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is it only water, or any other substance?

The Shaykh : Any substance, but as I told you, there is no harm in doing so out of necessity. For example, right now, when the wedding feast ends and people are leaving, one person might stand up and pour coffee for the people while standing. Sitting here is not appropriate; it is not fitting for you to sit while he is standing. So you will find some people drinking while standing, saying this is out of necessity. Someone might ask: Why are you drinking? It is not necessary. We say this is true, but for some people, it is not possible for them to do otherwise if they do not drink; they say this is arrogance. So every occasion has its own context, and the religion, praise be to Allah, in matters other than those explicitly prohibited, the original ruling is permissibility, except for acts of worship, where the original ruling is prohibition.
