Benefits of the hadith of Ibn 'Umar's Hajj during al-Hajjaj's governorship.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And all of this indicates the Companions' (may Allah be pleased with them) eagerness not to disobey the rulers, unless they are ordered to commit a sin, in which case there is no obedience to them in what they are ordered to do. It also contains evidence for the permissibility of a son offering advice in the presence of his father. What is the indication?
The student: ... Salim (may Allah have mercy on him)

The Shaykh : Yes, Salim spoke about al-Hajjaj in the presence of his father. Perhaps his father (may Allah be pleased with him) remained silent about this matter because it was an easy issue and he feared that it would be difficult for al-Hajjaj, leading him to order him to do everything. Otherwise, the strength and zeal of Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) are not hidden from any of us. It also contains evidence for acting based on circumstantial evidence, because al-Hajjaj kept looking at Ibn 'Umar. But if someone asks: Why did al-Hajjaj not say to Ibn 'Umar, "Do you believe Salim?" The apparent reason is that he did not say this out of respect for his father, Ibn 'Umar, and his looking at him was sufficient. Yes.
