The reciter: Yahya ibn Bukayr narrated to us, al-Layth narrated to us from 'Aqil from Ibn Shihab from 'Urwah from 'Aishah, the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
The Shaykh : May Allah send blessings and peace upon him. What is its interpretation?
That when a member of her family died and the women gathered for that and then dispersed, except for her family and her close ones, she would order a pot of talbina to be cooked, then make tharid, pour the talbina over it, and then say, "Eat from it, for I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Talbina settles the heart of the sick person and removes some of the grief.'"
أنها كانت إذا مات الميت من أهلها فاجتمع لذلك النساء ثم تفرقن إلا أهلها وخاصتها أمرت ببرمة من تلبينة فطبخت ثم صنع ثريد فصبت التلبينة عليها ثم قالت كلن منها فإني سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول : التلبينة مجمة لفؤاد المريض تذهب ببعض الحزنThe Shaykh : May Allah send blessings and peace upon him.
