Explanation of the Book of Clothing-02b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: Qutaybah ibn Sa'id narrated to us, saying: Al-Layth narrated to us from Ibn Abi Malikah from al-Miswar ibn Makhramah, that he said:
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) distributed some cloaks but did not give anything thereof to Makhrama. Makhrama said (to me), "O son! accompany me to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)." When I went with him, he said, "Call him to me." I called him (i.e. the Prophet (ﷺ) ) for my father. He came out wearing one of those cloaks and said, "We kept this (cloak) for you, (Makhrama)." Makhrama looked at the cloak and said, "Makhrama is pleased," قسم رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلّم أقبية ولم يُعطي مخرمة شيئا، فقال مخرمة: يا بني انطلق بنا إلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فانطلقت معه، فقال: ادخل فادعه لي، قال: فدعوته له، فخرج إليه وعليه قباء منها، فقال: خبّأت هذا لك قال: فنظر إليه، فقال: رضي مخرمة

The Shaykh : Allah is the Greatest.

The questioner : And the one before it, O Shaykh ... .

The Shaykh : Yes?

The questioner : ... the one before it.
Another questioner: The chapter on ... .

The Shaykh : Yes, that is right. ... this chapter.
This contains evidence for the permissibility of wearing the qaba', and the qaba' is something similar to an open-fronted tunic, and it may also be open at the back. It is also generally the case that it has some silk on its edges, meaning on its fringes, which are its openings. For this reason, it passed us in fiqh regarding what is permissible of silk: what are the "sujuk"?

The questioner : The "fara".

The Shaykh : The "fara". So there is nothing wrong with wearing this qaba', but it is obligatory that the person have a garment underneath it to cover his 'awrah, because the qaba' is open.
