The Shaykh : In this hadith is the humility of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), where he came to the man himself.
In it is also a favor to Makhramah, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) kept this cloak for him and he also wore it. And the fact that Makhramah wore it after the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had worn it is undoubtedly one of his virtues. Every person wishes to wear the garment that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had worn.
In it is also evidence for pleasing a person. For this reason, Makhramah said: "Makhramah was pleased", especially when a person comes angry or critical. It is better for a person to try to please him and soften his speech with him until his anger subsides. We ask Allah for help in having good character. When a man comes to us angry, we say, what is it that angers him? Yes, if he gets angry at us, we get angry at him, whereas trying to please him, no. And there is no doubt that this is contrary to the character of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Yes.
So the point of this hadith is the permissibility of wearing the qaba'. Al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) mentions these types to indicate the variety of clothing in the time of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and that the original ruling regarding clothing is permissibility until evidence establishes prohibition, because this falls under the generality of the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Al-Baqarah 2:29] And it has been established for us that the original ruling regarding clothing is permissibility in type, form, and manner, is that not so? Yes.
