Does the one who commits minor shirk (associating partners with Allah) remain in the Fire forever?
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Does the one who commits minor shirk (associating partners with Allah) remain in the Fire forever?
The Shaykh : The one who commits minor shirk (associating partners with Allah) does not remain in the Fire forever, because minor shirk does not take one out of the religion. What causes a person to remain in the Fire forever, may Allah protect us from it, is major shirk, as Allah Blessed and Exalted is He said:[Al-Ma'idah 5:72].
But is shirk included under the will of Allah like other sins, or is repentance necessary for it?
It is possible that His saying, the Exalted:[An-Nisa 4:48], is general for both minor and major shirk, meaning that it is not forgiven. However, the one who commits minor shirk does not remain in the Fire forever. It is also possible to say that the shirk referred to in His saying: [An-Nisa 4:48], is major shirk, in which case minor shirk would be included under His saying: .
And the favor of Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, is broader than we imagine, so we hope that minor shirk is included under the will of Allah.
On this occasion, I would like to point out an issue regarding this verse, namely His saying, the Exalted:[An-Nisa 4:48]. Some of those who are negligent regarding sins, when they are forbidden from sinning, say: "Allah says: [An-Nisa 4:48], so all sins are included under the will of Allah." Consequently, they become negligent regarding sin because of what Allah the Exalted mentioned regarding what is less than shirk.
So we say to him: In any case, you are taking a risk. Do you know that Allah the Exalted wills to forgive you? You do not know. Perhaps you are among those for whom Allah does not will to forgive. You are taking a risk, and risk is something that is forbidden. Furthermore, there are other clear proofs in which there is no ambiguity, and that is the obligation of repenting to Allah, Mighty and Majestic. Allah Blessed and Exalted is He said:[An-Nur 24:31].
The questioner : May Allah bless you.
