The reciter: Chapter: Patience regarding the prohibitions of Allah. And His saying, Mighty and Majestic: [Az-Zumar 39:10] And ‘Umar said: “We found the best of our lives through patience”.
The Shaykh : His saying “patience regarding the prohibitions of Allah”: the author, may Allah have mercy on him, specified it as patience regarding the prohibitions of Allah. This is because patience, as the scholars have categorized it after we understand what patience is, is restraining the self. From this comes their saying: “He was killed by patience,” meaning by restraint; he is restrained and then killed. It is said, “He was killed by patience,” so it is restraining the self.
