The reciter: Chapter: Paradise is closer to one of you than the strap of his sandal, and the Fire is the same. Musa ibn Mas'ud narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us from Mansur and al-A'mash from Abu Wa'il from Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih al-Bukhari 6488.
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. When the author (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned the first chapter, that Paradise is surrounded by what is disliked and the Fire is surrounded by desires, he clarified that despite this, it is nonetheless close. It is closer to a person than the strap of his sandal, which is an example used for something close to a person, and the Fire is the same. The purpose of this hadith is to encourage and warn: encouraging regarding Paradise, that a person may attain it with the slightest deed, and warning regarding the Fire, that a person may deserve it with the slightest deed. Perhaps a single word will raise a person to the highest of the highest, and a single word will lower him to the lowest of the lowest.
.
The reciter: Shaykh, in the previous hadith, it depicts two square images: one square mentioning what is disliked and one square mentioning desires. As for whether this depiction is accurate, I do not know.
The Shaykh : I do not know, by Allah. It is an approximation; this is just an approximation, nothing more.
Paradise is nearer to any of you than the Shirak (leather strap) of his shoe, and so is the (Hell) Fire.
