Benefits of the Hadith: (Do not say it this way; do not assist Satan against him)
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And in this is evidence that one who commits a sin should not be cursed in a way that increases it, by saying: “May Allah disgrace him” or “May Allah curse him” or the like. For this is what assists Satan against him. Rather, supplicate to Allah for his guidance, and say: “O Allah, make this a lesson for him,” “O Allah, benefit him with it,” and the like. There is no doubt that those who said, “May Allah disgrace him,” only said it out of zeal. But zeal must be governed by the Shari'ah and reason. If zeal is unleashed and not restricted by the Shari'ah and reason, it becomes *ghirah* (excessive zeal). *Ghirah* is *ghirah* (excessive zeal) if it is not restricted by the Shari'ah and reason.
Do you know what *ghirah* (excessive zeal) is? It is change. *Ghirah* is change, and it is used among us to mean indigestion. Do you know indigestion? By Allah, is there anything left that you do not know?!
The student: Obesity.
The Shaykh : Indigestion is not obesity. Indigestion is when a person eats a lot until he becomes indigested and his stomach changes. And when he burps, a foul smell comes out of him. This is indigestion. And the Shaykh al-Islam (may Allah have mercy on him) explicitly stated that it is forbidden for him to eat if he fears harm or indigestion. If he fears harm or indigestion, it is forbidden for him to eat. Yes, that is correct.
Harm means that he fills his stomach until he can barely move it. And indigestion is known: it is the change.
