What is the ruling on celebrating the Prophet's birthday like 'Id al-Fitr, and is celebrating it a religious innovation?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Your Eminence, in some countries, people celebrate the Prophet's birthday just as they celebrate 'Id al-Fitr or 'Id al-Adha. The head of the household expands on his children with food, drink, and sweets, and there is the exchange of gifts and visiting relatives. Is this a religious innovation? And what is our duty regarding this matter?

The Shaykh : Yes, this is a religious innovation without a doubt. Our duty toward this matter is to make it clear to people that this is a religious innovation, and that every religious innovation is misguidance. We should say: "Restrain yourselves, do not burden yourselves with this matter which only increases you in misguidance, may Allah protect us from it."
Then we tell them: If you love the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), do not go ahead of him, and do not introduce into his religion what is not part of it. Did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) establish a festival for the Muslims other than the three festivals?
Rather, when he arrived in Madinah and found the Ansar playing or celebrating festivals that were from the pre-Islamic age of ignorance, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to them:
Indeed, Allah has replaced them with something better than them: 'Id al-Adha and 'Id al-Fitr. إن الله أبدلكم بخير منها عيد الأضحى وعيد الفطر
. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded them, by what he encouraged regarding the two festivals, to leave the festivals that are not legitimate festivals. Yes.
