A person says he fasts but does not pray; is his fast valid if he does not pray at all?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : A person says he fasts but does not pray; is his fast valid if he does not pray at all?

The Shaykh : Yes, the one who fasts but does not pray, his fast is not accepted from him because he is a disbeliever and an apostate, and neither his zakah nor his charity nor any righteous deed is accepted from him, due to the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And what prevents their expenditures from being accepted from them but that they have disbelieved in Allah and in His Messenger and that they come not to prayer except while they are lazy and that they do not spend except while they are unwilling. وما منعهم أن تقبل منهم نفقاتهم إلا أنهم كفروا بالله وبرسوله ولا يأتون الصلاة إلا وهم كسالى ولا يُنفقون إلا وهم كارهون
[At-Tawbah 9:54]
If the expenditure—which is kindness to others—is not accepted from the disbeliever, then the worship that is limited to the doer and does not extend beyond him is even more so.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : And on this basis, the one who fasts but does not pray is a disbeliever, may Allah protect us from that.

The questioner : We seek refuge in Allah.

The Shaykh : And his fast is invalid, and likewise all his righteous deeds are not accepted from him.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : Shaykh Muhammad, we received a message from Iraq sent by the questioner, M. Sh., which says: To the host and presenter of the program "Light on the Path," greetings and regards. Thank you to your shaykhs.
