Is it better to fast a day after Ashura or before it?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Noble Shaykh, is fasting a day after the day of Ashura...

The Shaykh : Are

The questioner : Is fasting a day after the day of Ashura better, or before it?

The Shaykh : The scholars said: Fasting the day of Ashura is either done alone, or the ninth is fasted with it, or the eleventh is fasted with it. There is also a fourth possibility where the ninth, tenth, and eleventh are fasted, so one fasts three days of the month. The best, if one does not wish to fast more than two days, is to fast the ninth and the tenth, not the tenth and the eleventh. However, in this year, which I mean the year 1415, people differed because the news—meaning the news of the confirmation of the month—did not arrive until late. So some people proceeded on the assumption that the month of Dhul-Hijjah would be completed to thirty days, and said that the tenth day is Monday, so they fasted Sunday and Monday. Those who received the news earlier knew that the month had been confirmed to have entered on the night of the thirtieth of Dhul-Hijjah, so they fasted Saturday and Sunday.
