What is the ruling if I gave the owner of the goods fifty riyals and bought goods for forty riyals, leaving ten riyals with him that I did not take?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Praise be to Allah, and may peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah.
As for what follows:
Your Eminence, you mentioned in the tape "The Optimal Method in Da'wah."

The Shaykh : Ah.

The questioner : You mentioned in the tape "The Optimal Method in Da'wah."

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : That if, for example, I buy from a grocer for the value of forty riyals and give him fifty, leaving ten riyals with him, and I give him fifty and say: "It is riba al-nasi'ah (usury of deferment)," what is the evidence for that, since many people have fallen into this?

The Shaykh : This transaction, may Allah reward you, combined a sale and a currency exchange. The fifty riyals now became the consideration for the exchange and the goods. As for the goods, it is well known that there is no riba between them and the money. As for the exchange, which is the remaining value of the fifty, it is a cash-for-cash sale, so it is not permissible for you to leave without taking the remainder of the fifty from him. The solution to this problem is easy: instead of saying, "Take these fifty and ten riyals remain with me," he goes to his neighbor and exchanges the fifty, giving him forty. Yes, the one after him.
