Zuhayr said: Sufyan ibn 'Uyaynah narrated to us from al-Zuhri from Salim from his father that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say. And Muhammad ibn 'Abbad narrated to us, and the wording is his, saying: Sufyan narrated to us, saying: 'Amr narrated to us from Tawus from Ibn 'Umar. And al-Zuhri narrated from Salim from his father:
That a man asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about the night prayer, and he said: "Two by two. And when you fear the dawn, complete it with one rak'ah." أن رجلا سأل النبي صلى الله عليه وسلّم عن صلاة الليل فقال: مثنى مثنى فإذا خشيت الصبح فأوتر بركعة
