Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Uthman and Abu Bakr, the sons of Abu Shu'bah, and Ishaq ibn Ibrahim al-Hanbali narrated to us, and the wording is that of the sons of Abu Shu'bah. Ishaq said: He informed us. The other two said: He narrated to us. Jarir narrated from Mansur from Abu Ishaq from al-Aghr Abu Muslim, who reported it from Abu Sa'id and Abu Hurayrah. They said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Allah waits till when one-third of the first part of the night is over; He descends to the lowest heaven and says: It there any supplicator of forgiveness? Is there any penitant? Is there any petitioner (for mercy and favour)? Is there any solicitor? -till it is daybreak. إن الله يُمهل حتى إذا ذهب ثلث الليل الأول نزل إلى السماء الدنيا فيقول: هل من مستغفر هل من تائب هل من سائل هل من داع حتى ينفجر الفجر
