The Book of the Prayer of the Traveler and Its Shortening-08b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Amr al-Naqqad and Zuhr ibn Harb narrated to us. Amr said: Sufyan ibn Uyaynah narrated to us from Abu al-Zinad from al-A'raj from Abu Hurayrah, who traced it to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
When any one of you goes to sleep, the devil ties three knots at the back of his neck, sealing every knot with:" You have a long night, so sleep." So if one awakes and mentions Allah, a knot will be loosened; if he performs ablution two knots are loosened; and if he prays (all) knots will be loosened, and in the morning he will be active and in good spirits; otherwise we will be in bad spirits and sluggish in the morning.
Sahih Muslim 776
.

The Shaykh : This is also part of Satan's interference with the human being: he ties three knots on the nape of his head, meaning the back of his head, so that he does not rise at night. Every time he wakes up, Satan says to him, "A long night for you," until morning. The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) explained that these knots are undone by what was mentioned: if he rises and remembers Allah, one knot is undone. Among the remembrance of Allah is saying
Al-hamdu lillahil-ladhi ahyana ba’dama amatana wa ilayhi’n-nushur (Praise is to Allah Who has given us life after taking it from us, and unto Him is the Resurrection). الحمد لله الذي أحيانا بعدما أماتنا وإليه النشور
Sunan Ibn Majah 3880Sahih (Darussalam)
There is no god but Allah, alone, without any partner. To Him belong the Kingdom and praise, and He has power over everything لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له له الملك وله الحمد وهو على كل شيء قدير
Muwatta Malik 20:131
and reciting the ten verses at the end of Surat al-Imran. If he performs ablution, two knots are undone. If he prays, the knots are undone, and he rises in a good mood and energetic. Otherwise, he rises in a bad mood and lazy.
