In His saying, Glorified and Exalted is He: {And their husbands have the greater right to take them back in reconciliation}

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : In His saying, Glorified and Exalted is He:
And their husbands have more right to take them back وبعولتهن أحق بردهن
[Al-Baqarah 2:228]
This is contrary to what some people do now; when his wife is divorced, he comes and takes her, goes away with her, and prevents her husband from her as well. They quarrel and go to the Sharia court, and it becomes a long and broad issue?

The Shaykh : Yes, indeed, this is it. What you mentioned is undoubtedly contrary to what the verse indicates.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : What the Qur'an indicates, neither in the verse of Surat al-Baqarah
And their husbands have more right to take them back in this وبعولتهن أحق بردهن في ذلك
[Al-Baqarah 2:228]
nor in the verse of the Divorce
Do not turn them out of their [husbands'] houses, nor should they [themselves] leave لا تخرجوهن من بيوتهن ولا يخرجن
[At-Talaq 65:1]
, addressed the husbands and addressed the wives.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Yes, indeed.

The questioner : May Allah reward you, O gentlemen. We have reached the end of this meeting in which we hosted the honorable Shaykh Muhammad ibn Salih al-Uthaymeen, professor at the College of Sharia in Qassim, and imam and khatib of the Grand Mosque in Unayzah. He answered the questions sent by the gentlemen from al-Hariq or al-Hariq, asking about the oppression of the wife. We hope that the people of these two countries will distinguish between them by softening the yaa or by emphasizing it with kasrah. The questioner is Ayn Alif Mim Haa from al-Khabar...

The Shaykh : Do you mean when you write to you?

The questioner : Yes?

The Shaykh : Do they distinguish when they write to you?

The questioner : Yes, when they write to us. The listener is Ayn Alif Mim Haa from al-Khabar, asking about carrying the Qur'an while in a state of major ritual impurity, and the Hajj of the dead, meaning by that the slaughter. And Abdullah Muhammad Samran al-Harithi from the village of al-Mariq from Banu al-Harith.
Thank you to the honorable Shaykh Muhammad, and thank you, O gentlemen. Until we meet with your presence, we entrust you to Allah. Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
