The questioner : In one of his statements, he said: I prayed the Zuhr prayer five minutes before its time because I was unaware of the time. Is my prayer accepted or not?

The Shaykh : Praying before its time is not valid, even if it is only one minute before the time. Even if one says the takbir for entering ihram before the time, the prayer is not valid, because Allah the Exalted says:
Indeed, prayer has been decreed upon the believers a decree of specified times. إن الصلاة كانت على المؤمنين كتاباً موقوتاً
[An-Nisa 4:103]
meaning a specific time. Therefore, the prayer is not valid before its time.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Accordingly, it is obligatory for you to repeat the prayer that you prayed five minutes before its time.

The questioner : Yes, okay, is there not a comment on the statement of some people or some questioners: "Is my Hajj accepted?" or "Is my prayer accepted?" or "Is my fasting accepted?" regarding the word "accepted"?

The Shaykh : There is nothing wrong with this.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Because what is meant by "accepted" is that it is in accordance with the Shari'ah methodologies.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : As for the acceptance of the deed itself from this specific person, that is with Allah.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : But his statement that it is accepted according to the apparent, based on what the rules of the Shari'ah require, this is what is meant by "accepted."
