The Book of Friday Prayer, the Two Festivals, the Prayer for Rain, the Eclipse Prayer, and Funerals-04b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: And Muhammad ibn Rafi' and 'Abd ibn Hamid narrated to me. 'Abd said: He informed us, and Ibn Rafi' said: 'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us. 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us from Ma'mar from al-Zuhri from Ibn al-Musayyib from Abu Hurayrah who said:
While the Abyssinians were playing with their spears in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), 'Umar ibn al-Khattab entered and reached for pebbles to throw at them. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Let them be, O 'Umar."
.

The Shaykh : This is like the first one; it contains evidence of the breadth of Islam, especially if the intention in allowing these people to do so is to bring them together. It was mentioned in another hadith, which I think is not a condition in Muslim, that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said to 'Umar:
Let them be so that the Abyssinians know that there is room in our religion.دعْهم لتعلم الحبش أنّ في ديننا فُسحة
. This would fall under the category of calling to Islam and uniting people upon Islam. There is no doubt that if souls are given their permissible share of amusement and play, there is no doubt that they will be inclined to it. But if they are prevented from everything and it becomes necessary that everything be serious, they will become tired and bored.
