The listener also says: On one of the blessed nights of Ramadan, some people came to us, so I led them in the obligatory prayer. We sat for a short while, then more people came and said that none of them had been able to pray, so I led them in the obligatory prayer a second time. I am the imam of a mosque, and then we stood up for the prayer, or for the Tarawih prayer. Is it permissible for me to pray the obligatory prayer a second time, or not? Please inform us, and thank you.

The Shaykh : Answer: Yes, it is permissible for you to lead these people in prayer, even if you have already prayed before. The evidence for this is that Mu'adh ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) used to pray the Isha' prayer with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and then he would return to his people and pray that prayer with them. For him, it was a voluntary prayer, and for them, it was an obligatory prayer. So there is nothing wrong with this action; rather, it is a permissible action.
