The reciter: And 'Ali ibn al-Hajj al-Sa'di narrated to me, 'Ali ibn Masi'ir narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Abu Salih, from Ibn 'Umar, who said:
When 'Umar was stabbed, he fainted, and they cried out over him. When he regained consciousness, he said: Do you not know that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The deceased is indeed tormented by the weeping of the living." لَمَّا طُعِنَ عُمَرُ أُغْمِيَ عَلَيْهِ، فَصِيحَ عَلَيْهِ، فَلَمَّا أَفَاقَ، قَالَ: أَمَا عَلِمْتُمْ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: إِنَّ الْمَيِّتَ لَيُعَذَّبُ بِبُكَاءِ الْحَيِّ
